I have an old Yamaha RX-V670 that I found in the basement yesterday. Wanted to use it to listen to internet music in my home office.

Got everything working fine. Enjoyed the music.

Tried to turn it on this morning and it will power up for 2-3 seconds and then shut-off.

Any ideas? Is it too old to mess with?

TIA for any feedback

That is a pretty typical story for a unit stored a long time. I would bet the power supply caps have failed and broken down after being polarized after a long period of disuse.

Unless you have done service work and have test equipment, I would probably recycle it. But you could negotiate with a service tech some limited diagnostic work, but expect to pay $75 or so just for that.
