YAMAHA RX-V665 Zone 2 problems

I have just hooked up my receiver and all the speakers. Everything works inside, but when I switch to Zone 2 and select input to tuner (to listen to the speakers outside) the whole receiver shuts off. I have tested the speakers and they work fine when hooked into the receiver. When I'm on Zone to and select inputs the receiver stays on when I select everything else (that has nothing connected to it) but when the tuner or Ipod is selected (which has something connected) it just shuts right off. Can anyone help???

Check the speaker wiring at the receiver to make sure you don't have a stray causing a short.

I've check, rechecked and checked again. I hooked up a spare speaker inside just to see if it was something with the outside speakers the just didn't mix right but nothing, it just shuts off.

It sounds like something internally amiss causing it to go into protection mode.
