Can someone explain to me what the ..........SCENE.......buttons do....I have tried reading the manual and that made me more confused........I have a Pioneer DVD, CD player and SAT/DVR all hooked up to it.

How do I make it so I can watch SAT and listen to the radio or CD or something else? I have the RGB output going to the tv and the DVD and SAT going into the amp.

Does the PURE DIRECT button automatically take me back to the YPAO settings or is it a different soundfield?

How can I set it so the SAT and DVD are the one soundfield and then lets say I prefer a different soundfield for my CDs or Radio without manually switching it?

Can I play the radio in another part of the house while viewing tv in my main room as long as the speakers are connected to my amp?

I have the Scene buttons on my Yamaha, but never use them. I found them more troublesome to set up and reconfigure to the way I like (over their default settings), so I've set up each input based on my own preferences with regards to the input source, and use it that way. PURE DIRECT merely bypasses all the extra processing circuitry, so you get out exactly what is put in, so to speak. My Yammy doesn't have YPAO, so I can't comment on that.

If you connect all of your input sources and corresponding input audio sources to the proper inputs, you can reassign the input settings as necessary to give you one touch switching. This is what i did, and I can switch between 6 different sources (DVD, TV, Radio, iPod, Xbox, and PC) while maintaining my preferred soundfield all with the push of a single button on my universal remote. Navigating the Yamaha's menu can be tricky at first, but you'll get the hang of it and realize it's simpler than you think.

The only way to listen to the radio while watching TV would be to use the Zone 2 feature and have the Zone 2 speakers in the same room. Set Zone 2 to radio and Zone 1 to the source for the TV.

Most receivers allow you to listen to an audio only source while viewing a different video source. The trick to it is that the audio source (eg. your cd player) must be connected to an audio only input - CD, tape, aux, etc. Select the audio source first and then the video source. Note that if you want to use a single DVD player for both video and audio playback you can connect the audio and video for watching movies to a Video source (like the DVD input) and run separate audio cable to an Audio only source (like the CD input).

I have a 661;I run my cable DVR into one of the HDMI inputs and use the "Cable/DTV" input on the remote. If I want to listen to cd or radio,I select an audio input,"Tuner" for radio,"Phono" for a CD player.
In the manual,it explains how to use an audio input after selecting a video input.
I use the same method to listen to TV audio(using an analog connection from the same DVR)while playing video games on another video input.
