You probably just turned the back light off.

im sure its in the maunal, but iirc correctly from your remote try hitting the display button to cycle thru it. If that isnt it ill have to download your manual and check; if you dont have one

Hi, and welcome to the forum!

I can understand how frustrating this must be. Most of us have been there. :) I don't see anything in the owner's manual that would indicate that you could dim the front panel straight from the remote control, but I'd take Scott's suggestion and push the "DISPLAY" button on the remote to see what happens. Before doing that, toggle the switch on the right side of the remote to "AMP".

The manual does say that the display will automatically dim if you set it to Pure Direct mode, but I don't think it would shut it off. Just to be sure, try selecting a mode other than Pure Direct to see if the display comes back on.

It might be that the little light that illuminates the display has burned out, but let's follow Scott's lead and check the easy stuff first.

I saw that, but it looks like it's an onscreen menu. That doesn't seem to be the kind of thing that someone would do by accident. Then again, maybe someone else was using the OP's gear. If the OP can get to the onscreen display, that's definitely the first thing to check.

I'm not understanding you Mezz, It looks like you posted when tired.

Please explain your problem when you're rested.

I'm having a bit of difficulty sifting thru the terminology here as well.

Sounds like one of two things:

If your display is the thing that is shutting down after a few seconds, then the receiver is in Pure Direct mode. Center of the front panel, bottom row to disengage.

More likely is that, as I am presuming, you changed some connections; you've developed a short in the speaker connections. Check for stray strands of wire that may be shorting out the receiver. Sounds like it may be going into protection mode.

Ok ...i will repeat again the same....first problem with Yamaha was display, when i turn him nothing on display but other things works fine...now i fix display and when i turn on i see on the display everything but yamaha turn off after few seconds when i turn on,now it s ok?understand me?
And when i turn on now i see smoke and i found what is,it s transistor KRA102M-AT (signature on motherboard Q1009) on the internet say that it s PNP 50V 100mA so any equivalent ?
To me is the bigest problem what now it s other problems when i fix display, because i fix display that i change few elektrolitic capacitors and that s it.

Many thanks....
