I have a friend with a Yamaha RXV-659 who is having a problem with the zone 2 setup. He has the system working just fine with his 5 speakers in the house with the sub-woofer. When we followed the setup for zone 2 to connect his outside speaker to the zone 2 presence, we get only a little sound out of the speakers. When you turn the volume up you can only get enough to hear. The biggest problem is how to turn off the sub-woofer when using the zone 2 output. He was originally using the B output and had sound from the outside speakers, but still could not turn off the sub-woofer. What can you suggest.

He is not using redundant analog connections.

For each source you want to use on the 2nd zone, you must hook up a second set of cables to the second zone.

If the sub has a auto on/off it should go off when using zone 2 only after a few minutes.

All analog sources are shared between all zones. If you select CD for zone 2 playback you should only hear sound in that particular area or source. I'd just double check to make sure you selected varible and not fixed for volume control. I've recently started to experiment with a second zone application and have now slowly started to figure things out. The sub should only come into play when the main zone is on...at least that is how my Yammy works otherwise you'll need some sort of H/T bypass....:)
