Yamaha RX V659 Vs. Onkyo TX SR603X

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum but have read a lot of helpful threads here. I am replacing a malfunctioning Kenwood AV6060 receiver, and think I've narrowed my choices down to these two. I DO like that I can connect the iPod to both receivers, and I can use either to play music on the back deck independent of what's going on in the main room.

I tend to think of ONKYO as a tad higher in quality for the price, but every review I read rates both very well.

Any opinions/personal experiences would be very helpful.

Pretty comparable units.
The one thing lacking on the Onkyo is it's lack of preouts for an external amp.
I've recently began trust the quality of Yamaha over Onkyo.

My opinion anyway.

I have the 659 and like the power, sound and features.
I have not heard the Onkyo.
Best to listen, compare and buy the one that sounds best to you and offers the features you need now and perhaps in the future.

THe 659 is very hard to beat for the $350 delivered price. I was looking at the Onkyo 703 but couldn't see spending that much.

I'm totally happy with the 659 so far, no complaints.
