In June of this year I acquired a RX-V659 Yamaha A/V Receiver the unit has been performing well since acquisition, however, this morning I discovered that no sound is being emitted from the Front L/R Speakers. I conducted a “Test Tone” test and this confirmed that I was getting sound from the Center, Rear L/R and Subwoofer Speakers but absolutely no sound from the Front L/R Speakers.
I conducted all the standard tests in order to ascertain the cause of this problem, including the following:
1. Ensure that the unit was set to “A” Speakers (it was set to “A”)
2. Conduct continuity test on speaker wires (all wires tested good)
3. Ensure that Sur. L/R was set to a setting other than “None” (it was set to small)
4. Ensure that speaker levels were correctly set (the levels were set to half scale)
All of the tests revealed nothing out of the ordinary.
I subsequently connected the Front L/R Speakers to the “B” Speaker Terminals and set the unit to “B” Speakers I then conducted another “Test Tone” test and to my surprise all speakers Front L/R, Rear L/R, Center and Subwoofer) are now emitting sound. It should be noted that all speaker wires are connected to the unit speaker terminals with Banana Plugs.
I am baffled with this problem; consequently I am using this medium to ascertain whether anyone has any suggestion/solution on how to correct it. Any ad all response will be greatly appreciated.

First off check this

Make sure that "Both" A&B are not on. It sounds impossible that you are getting sound out of all of them on "B". The receiver is set up to have rear surrounds or front presence so it sounds as if ALL are currently playing. If you are only on B then you should only be getting sound out of B only. If you hook everything back up the way you had it on “A” and you are still getting no sound out of your R&L fronts you may have a problem with the receiver. Obviously make sure that all of the wires are correct and touching nothing other than their posts. Good Luck.

Mine has done this twice now, just do a reset and it will be fine. On mine, with the mode set to two channel, all you can hear is the sub humming away.
With these receivers as complicated to set up as they are, they really need to put a slot in them for an SD card or a USB plug, any way a config can be saved would be great.
