Yamaha RX-V650 VS RX-V1500

I recently started a thread (and thanks to everyone that responsed)asking how to connect a Phono to an RX-V650 and after shopping for a preamp the sales guy at Tweeter was able to give me a full refund for my RX-V650 and for $200 bucks more for a new RX-V1500 which made me very happy since I nolonger needed a pramp for the Phono and i upgraded my receiver. However after running through the Yamaha YPAO various times the sound on the RX-V1500 does not sound has loud and crisp as the RX-V650 with the same exact setup( I have tested all my components DVD, CD, SACD, VCR) with the same results. I would expect that the sound should be at the least the same if not better. Can this be since YPAO is a different release or does additional tests? or maybe the programs have changed or be improved with the newer model?
Don't know what to do at this point but after being very happy with a newer and better model I am very disappointed right now with the RX-V1500.

Has anyone else run into this or have any suggestions or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You might want to try running YPAO setting PEQ to HIGH. Just a thought!

I was wondering, do you have the system set-up in the same room as previous receiver? The reason I am asking is because when I moved into my new house with exposed beams, my killer Cerwin Vega D7's were not so killer anymore. And, my new system sounds good, but if I put it in a smaller insulated room it would certainly blow me away! :D

Zumbo:

Everything is the same but i did make the change as you recommended and also changed the input mode to auto apposed to just analog and the system now sounds outstanding. It's hard to say if better but at least as good as it sounded prior to the receiver upgrade. looks like the Flat setting is the default and I may test the others to see what sounds the best to me.

Thanks so much for your help and from what i am reading in the manual there appears to be alot more settings that i can test with the RX-V1500 model than I had with the RX-V650 model.

Thanks again
Mike

Moving up from the 650 It's great to have additional options to adjust but I question if my hears can really here the difference and if I really like the change or not. And of course my better half(WIFE) will never agree to what I think sounds better.
Again thanks thats what i love about this site everyone is so willing to help.
