I have a Yamaha RX-V620 receiver. I have been noticing a noise coming through my two main speakers that sounds like "bacon frying". At first, I thought it was my speakers, then I ruled that out. Next, I thought it was my speaker cables, then I ruled that out. So, the only thing left was the receiver. And sure enough, that was the source of the problem. When I turn on the Effects, which cause the center channel and the surround speakers to come on, I hear the "bacon frying" noise coming through my two main speakers. However, when I turn the Effects off, the sound disappears. Do you have any idea why the Effects would be causing that and how much it would be to get something like that fixed?

what about the source connected to the receiver? does it happen with all components connected to it? it may be a good idea to email yamaha.

No. The noise is just coming through the two main speakers. The other components are fine.

I think what Marky was getting at is this;

Does this sound come out of your speakers with any component selected; does it do it with the DVD player? With the cable or Satellite box? CD player, etc? If it does it with only one component then the problem may be with the component. If it does it with all then you may be correct in thinking that there may be a problem with your receiver.
