Yamaha RX-V565 Vs. Onkyo Tx-Sr 507 vs. Pioneer VSX-819H-K NEED help choosing.

Hello, I am new to the Audio world and I am looking to build up my first theater system. I am 21 with full time job and go to school full time as well, so I am looking for a decent receiver to handle my needs. I narrowed it down to those 3 listed on the title.

Living Room Size: (LxWxH) - 14x12x10

System I will be having is:

TV - Samsung 46B650
Speakers - Energy Take Classic 5.0 (L,R,C & Surrounds)
Subwoofer - SVS PB12 NDS
Receiver - Pending

What I am aiming for on a reciever is:

- 5.1 receiver
- Audio over HDMI
- At least 3 HDMI inputs. (Cable, Xbox 360 & DVD)
- Able to connect my N64, Wii, Xbox 360 without a problem. (Read that the Yamaha will not take Wii's component cable)
- Enough juice for the speakers and sub listed above.

* I don't think I need video up-conversion but I could be wrong. (Any suggestions?)

I also have the WD Media player, not sure I will be connecting that to the receiver or if I even going to connect it.

Hopefully you guys can give me advice or opinions on choosing the right one for my setup and needs. I do not mind getting something that cost's more as long as it will handle my needs. Thanks for your time.

A quick FYI the Yamaha now has a firmware update that will allow you to hook your Wii component cable.

I personally have the Yamaha, and really like it. However I have not had a chance to listen to the others. I know that there a quite a few guys here that will suggest Onkyo's over Yamaha, but I'm not quite sure about that particular model.

Yes it is. As you can see in mysignature I also have the Wii and use it on my Yamaha receiver with the component cable. It works 100%.

For what it's worth you can pick up a refurbished Onkyo TX-SR606 for about $320. It's pretty hand to beat that deal and might save a starving student a few dollars. I just put one in my master bedroom and I'm quite pleased.

+1 > I second that choice also. If you can connect your Wii on the Onkyo TX-SR606, this is a nice receiver for the price ($319).

Also, the Yamaha RX-V665 (same receiver as Fenix) is $349 with free shipping at 6th avenue.
And the Yamaha RV-v465 is $259 at the same place.
And the Yamaha RX-V765 is $399 also at the same place with free shipping.

So, here you go, 4 receivers from $259 to $399. Just do a bit of research on their features and specs, and then pick the one that accomodates you best (price wise too).

Yeah, I just explained on my post that at 6th avenue, you have to make an offer for the 665 ($349.99), by clicking on the indicated Price Alert on their web site, and then they'll get back in touch with you to say YES, we do accept your offer.

First, you go to Sisth Avenue Electronics (6th Ave Electronics city), then you search for A/V Surround Receivers under Components, then click the one you are interested in, then the details comes up, then you click on where there is a star *Price Alert and then you make your target price and give your e-mail address.

The first one, I don't know, that's what I'm trying to figure out.

The Yamaha RX-V665 is indeed advertised at $429, but you can Target price it at $349. And it should be accepted, as other people got it with that offer.

When you go to 6th avenue web site, click under "Components" on the left side, and then "Audio Receivers" also on the left side. Then you got page 1, go to page 6 for Yamaha receivers, then click on the Yamaha RZ-V665.
On the botom left, there is a yellow star with Price Alert, click on that, and another screen will open. Put your Target Price in the box, and your e-mail address in the other, voila! Only $350, they'll let you know, YES we do accept your offer. Bingo!

One goes to 1080 progressive, and the other one to 1080 interlaced.

1. The Yamaha RX-V565 has analog video upscaling to full HD 1080p (progressive).

2. The Onkyo TX-SR606 upscale all video signals up to 1080i (interlaced).

-> And of course, both of these receivers will let digital 1080p signals from HDTV, HD DVD or Blu-Ray pass through their HDMI inputs, and output it from their HDMI output as is.

The Yammy RX-V665 is $350 (6th Avenue). Pretty much the same as the 663.

Fenix...I hope you can help me...

I have the Yamaha RX-V465 receiver and checked the firmware as you suggested above. It is M:L034 / 368A. I can't figure out how to get the Wii connected to the receiver so I can have audio and video.

I originally tried the component cables (3 plugs) which came with the Wii, then tried the HD Audio/Video Component Cable (5 plugs) designed for the Wii. Neither of them produce video, just audio.

Let me know if you need more information.
