Yesterday my DSP-A1 died. Will not turn on; just clicks and it has been unplugged, let sit Plugged back in and power button pressed again with no results. Which brings me to replacing the unit.

I have some questions I would ask and would appreciate your responses:
1. Is the 4600 the most bang for the buck now?
2. I use the Dish Network 942VR box and it has digital video/audio out put (assume this is the HDMI). Currently I run the component video directly from the sat receiver directly to my TV (Toshiba 65H81). Additionally, I do the same with my DVR. Is there ant benefit or drawback to putting the the input for component vidie and HDMI into the receiver and using the one componebt video otput to the TV?
3. The rack systems is built in and has glass doors. How do you set the cooling fan to run continously when the receiver is on?
4. Does the tuner have a discrete on and off power switch code like the DSP A1? I use a MX-700 remote.
5. The following is a list of components I run through the DSP A1: JVC HRS9911U SVHS, Dish 942 VR Sat receiver, Pnansonic EMH 80 DVD/DVR, Sony CX270 CD player , Pioneer 2710 LD Player Sony V9000 Hi8 VCR. Any known issues with these components and the 4600?

Feed back and suggestions would be greatly accepted.

I'm pretty sure that the RX-V2600 sports all the features of the 4600 (maybe minus a few) and costs a few hundred less.

1) I believe the RX-V2500 is the best bang for buck at present.

2) The only benifit is if you TV does not have sufficient video inputs for your needs. Unless you intend to add more video components to your setup, there will be no benifit. Instead of selecting the a/v input on the TV, you will be selecting it on the receiver. Since you already have your video connections covered, the HDMI switching on the receiver will not improve your HT experience significantly.

3) Serioulsy dude, unless you tell us the make and model of your rack system, how can anyone comment on this?

Make and Model of the Rack System

Custom made by a high end cabinet shop per my design. All speakers are enclosed with door frame having speaker cloth (LF,RF,C and sub) . Racks are heavy duty sliders on solid oak base. Projection TV occupies the center opening, with matching smpke glass oak frmed doors on each sde of the TV (5 feet hig doors with 5 roller racks in each). I think you get the picture. Custom made built in Home Entertainment Center with no visible wires or speakers made from solid oak.

The room is 22 by 30 and wired for 5.1 with THX certified surround sound speakers and sub.

I hope this clears up any areas I failed to answer in my original post.

Local Yamaha dealer wants $1,600 plus tax for the 4600. Anyone know of a dealer giving a better price? please send me an Email masterloggie@hotmail.com

Just flipped throught the RX-v4600 manual. It has 2 switched outlets at the back. They are on whenever the receiver is on.
