Been using this receiver for a year with RBH MC6ct towers. Setting it up with YPAO has always been predictable. I bought a pair of mint JBL L3 for old times sake and put them on the Yamaha.

The YPAO now configures the speakers as large and the sub crossover at 40hz. The distance is spot on, and while the bass is very solid with the excellent 8” driver. I’ve never seen a receiver set this so low. The RBH is no slouch in the low end at 40hz. It’s an odd thing. Any body comment if you leave the auto setup alone and tune manually or what not

cheers

Everyone has a different preference.

No matter what speaker I used, I always set Speakers to SMALL and set XO to 100Hz since I prefer to let my subs do all the work. :D

And what a sub I have...a lovely RBH 12” reference to remodel the Sheetrock. Thx

Generally the avrs are set to call your speakers "large" (i.e. do not use bass management) when detecting an f3 of 40Hz. Personally I'd change to small (to use bass management) and probably start with a higher crossover, like 80 to start, but it's preference to an extent so experiment.
