What do you guys think? I can got either for abotu $1000. I have a Pioneer Elite Pro 1140 60" Plasma. I'm buying a new Reciever. Considering these two or anything else you boys might think I should take a look at. Really not looking to do anything higher than $1,800, and since both of these retail for about that (even though I can get them both much cheaper, I initially started looking at them due to past reputation on older models.

Apologies for any topic redundancy, but please, any and all feedback is appreciated.

What speakers are you driving, & what other components do you have? This will allow people to make more helpful suggestions.

In the meantime, allow me to take the super wimpy, non-audiophile snob approach. both of these units should work well in most cases and with most speakers. I would recommend that you spend some time playing with both in a store (preferably the same store). Check the inputs, do you have enough for your current equipment and any near future purchase plans?

If so, are there any features that you can't live without?

Finally, play with the remote. Unless you plan on getting a decent universal, this will be something you love/hate/live with. If the inputs are equal, the features are equal check and see if one works the way your brain does. I cannot speak to the differences between the new Elite line, and the old line (like mine) but I love my receiver. I was about to go with the RX-V2500, but after spending time with both, this one was the better package.

Enjoy

Do you plan to use iLink for SACD or DVD-Audio?

The 84 isn't necessary if you don't plan to hook up a DVD player with iLink, the 82 will do nicely, the 82 is more comparable to the 2700 in features. Power is similar for all of them.
