I am new on this forum. I have just pruchased the Panasonic 42" professionbal display and am considering two AV recievers that can handle the HDMI and the 5.1 or 7.1 functions of a home theater plus a good 2 channel audio setup.

I am from the old school, tube amps, two satellite subs and a subwoofer for good audio.

I have looked at all the reviews by Audioholics and these two come into my periscope. I plan to get the Axiom pair M22 probably and one of their subwoofers.

According to the specs these two are very comparable, one of them supports bi-amping, and they both suppert a variety of modes. If my primary MUSIC love is two channel, is either of them ok?

i will add to the Axiom Speakers in the future once i figure how well the m22's fill my listening room.

that room is an 17 x 20 living room with an attached 8 x 12 dining room.

opinions or suggestions are appreciated !

Receiver options

Both of those receivers are great HT option if you need HDMI. In my opinion, the HDMI feature is over rated. You might consider last year's Yamaha RX-V2500 and Denon 3805 models for a fraction of the cost. Both of the models you mentioned are capable receivers and are loaded with HT video features.

For music listening, you might consider the soon to be released UL pre/pro from av123.com in the same price range. A dedicated amp like the UL can easily drive 4 ohm loads and is capable of the rated power into all channels, unlike most receivers.

The Axioms are a good speaker option. Their $1k EP500 sub is also great, but the lower priced models are outperformed by the subs from SVS and HSU.
