Im stuck trying to decide between the 2.

any thoughts? Is video upconversion on the yamaha a reason to sway my decision?

which would pair better with my Axioms?

Have you seen these in person? Go to a local hifi shop and check them out. You'll find one you prefer over the other rather quickly. The Yamaha is a newer model and has a few more bells and whistles. The 2500 was the competition to the 3805, while the 2600 competes with the 3806.

its enough to sway me :)
btw, thats upscaling, not upconversion. (upscaling is better)

I am a long term user of the Yamaha RX-V2600 and think its the best receiver they have made since the RX-Z9. IMO it is a stellar processor and also have a very good amp section, powerful enough to drive your axioms just fine. The Denon AVR-3806 is also a great receiver too but doesn't have all of the video features that the 2600 has. The 3806 however is more flexible with bass management settings and on the fly channel trims. Both are great products which you cannot go wrong with either of them.

Well,if I can put in my two cents worth. I just picked up 3805 better deal then the 3806 but I kinnda old school because I like connecting direct to tv via dvd and digital box and not from AVR. So, its preference and needs that you must consider.
