I recently purchased a Yamaha RX-V2600 reciever which I have connected to a Pj via HDMI. Last week comcast came out to hook up a HD DVR box. I tried to use the HDMI output on the box to the HDMI input on the Yamaha but when I did a blue screen appears and says "The HD content protection of your display has been comprimised, please use component hook up." Ideally I would like to use the HDMI output/input because of the better picture quality.
I am currently hooked up via component and it works. The picture is great with HD cable and DVD.

Can any one explain why HDMI does not seem to work from the comcast box throught the reciever to the projector. I am a newby to the AV world and need some help!I have tried different cable boxes and cables.:::confused:

Comcast came last week and installed a HD DVR box, and before he started I said are you going to use HDMI on the TV. He said "YES". Eventually I want it to go to my receiver first then to the TV, but decided to the TV for now would work for me. He had trouble with the box and finally said that it was downloading codes and would continue for a half hour and he was leaving. I tipped him handsomely. After he left, I looked behind the TV and he had used component connections. All functions on the remote do not work and I do not receive all of the channels that come with the Platinum package. He did not leave a manual for the remote or the box. He said its all there on the help screen via the help button. The help button does not work. Life is harsh.

The cable guy came out to my parents house to fix a problem with their HD DVR, and when they saw the HDMI cable he told them that they were not getting true HD. So he ran component cables, needless to say that when I was there I removed the component cables and put it back on HDMI. I guess you don't need to know anything about anything to work for a cable company.

Sounds like an HDMI copy protection issue that can only be rectified though a firmware update by the cable company. You might try turning on the projector first, let it stabalize to the input, and lastly turn on the cable box. That worked for me on the non DVR version of the box before my cable company finally sent the patch.
