hello all,i just purchased a yammi 2500 and seem to be having some volume problems.it seems that i have to turn it up to 0db to get any real volume out.i am currently running 2 cerwin vega d-8,15" 3 way,350 watt. i have them set to large in the set up, and have set the eq.the volume bar graph that displays on the television shows that it is 3/4 volume at 0 db.which i can still talk over.i wached a movie the other night at +6.0db and didn't find it overly loud, but the bar graph shows volume at about 80 percent.same when listening to cd"s the reciever doesn't seem to have very much power.bass +6db,treble+6db.mute is off. my old nad stereo reiever would drive these speakers with lots of volume.please help if you have any ideas.thanks johnyk newbee.

What source are you listening to when you feel the volume is too low and how is it connected to the receiver? Did you calibrate the levels of each channel?

0dB should be extremely loud. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that you have connected the variable audio outs of a tv or cable box to the receiver and the volume setting on the tv or cable box is low. If that is the case, use the fixed audio outs.

More information on what you have connected and how will help to better troubleshoot the problem.

yammi rxv2500 volume problems

the only thing i have hooked to the reciever is a dvd player.i hooked it up as per the manual, when i listen to the tuner it has very little volume also,i also calibrated the level of each speaker with the eq. not sure of any other way to do it,i didn't see anything else in the manual. my tv is hooked red/white/yellow to cab/sat. thanks.

You've definitely got something hooked up wrong. Sorry, it not enough info to tell what you did wrong.

Are you running audio out from TV to the receiver? All audio sources need to be connected directly from the source(CD,DVD,Cable Box) directly into the receiver.

Check speaker levels pg. 61, they should at least be set to 0dB. Make sure test tones are ON, pg.58.

Connecting from TV to receiver using the tv's audio outs could cause the volume to be low if you happened to use the variable audio outs as I mentioned before, but that would not explain low volume from the dvd player.

After you check the speaker levels as suggested above, one more thing to check would be if that receiver allows you to specify what 'mute' really means; ie some will allow you set the mute button to be true mute as in no sound or attenuate the signal by a specified amount like -20 dB or -50 dB.

Also on the TV, turn OFF the internal tv speakers. Many TVs won't send any audio out the audio outs jacks if the tv's internal speakers are on. Just a wild guess, but if that were the case you might actually be hearing the tv speakers.

Glad to help. The little things can make such a BIG difference.:D LOL! If you're setting up for HT then you'll want a center channel.
