ok, I was able to program all of the components but how the heck to I reprogram the controller for the TV? To program other components you hit that components button and then do the whole enter code thing but there is no button for the TV, just the switch on the side (AMP/SOURCE/TV)

ps, this amp is way more than I need and I LOVE it. finally got all the speakers setup(7.1). Now all I need is a popcorn machine and I am set.

My receiver is an RX-V750, with a (presumably) cheaper remote than your 2500, but it is also a learning remote, so perhaps it is mostly similar. My manual had a pretty good description of entering the manufacturer code for my TV (which is a Mitsubishi). For most of the TV controls to work, you need to hit the DTV/CBL input button first. Then the greenish/teal button legends apply. (So, it is the green cursor buttons that control channel and volume up/down for the TV itself, and NOT the main receiver volume buttons, for example.) Also, the green "input" button scrolls through my TV's input selections.

Note that the TV power button is its own dedicated button, just below all of the yellow receive input buttons. Thus, you don't have to hit the DTV/CBL input button before turning the TV on or off.

My only receiver frustration is that I haven't figured out how to control my cable box (Motorola unit from Comcast) from my receiver remote. To be fair, I haven't spent a whole lot of time trying to solve this - it's just that Motorola isn't listed on the list of manufacturer codes for cable boxes. Maybe I can use the learning-remote capability to make this happen. But, it is not clear what this will mean for controlling the TV, since there is only one input button labeled DTV/CBL.

For now, I use the receiver remote for the receiver, TV, and DVD player, and the cable box remote for it.

My other beef is that sometime I forget that the last input button I've hit is the DTV/CBL button. Then, when I go to change surround decoder modes, the "alternate meaning" of the button kicks in, which serves to change my TV to its antenna/coax input.

If they list a code for General Instruments, you should try that. I don't remember if Motorola bought GI or they just source their cable boxes from them, but GI codes seem to work. I used a GI code for a cheap URC-8811 remote for my sister's Comcast cable box and it worked properly.

Don't feel lonely.... I nearly pulled my hair out!!!!

Put your remote on DTV and program in your code for the TV. The manual really does not clearly state this but it will work for you. Hope you haven't spent too much time, this came to me like @ 3 AM one morning and it works :p Do it exactly the same way you programed your other remotes. You will not have to use the DTV function (push the DTV button of your remote) to power on and off your TV or your volume, it is automatic, cheers problem solved.......

the pioneer remote doesnt light up at all, nor do the buttons glow in the dark like the denon 2803 i was using before this one came in from shipping... realy irks me that for $1K receiver the remote buttons dont light...

yeah, it lights up. there is a button on the side that you can hit to light it up. it isnt the greatest light up job but uit does the job. I lik that all the buttons light up and not just a select few like on some ofther remotes.

Hey... I actually have a Sony 3100 remote I think I am going to part with if anyone wants it.

Hey Anonymous,

Thanks for the tip about trying the General Instruments manufacturer code for controlling my Motorola cable box. I'll try it tonight.

the manual says to use the DTV or Phono key for the pushbutton for your TV and then enter the code.. I used DTV for my 55 mitsu HD and it works pretty good. :)
