Trying to decide between the Yamaha RX-V2500 and the Sony STR-DA500ES. Have read reviews and comments on both. Any suggestions or comments on either ? Any other recommendations or suggestions ?
Thanks

I would go with the Yamaha RX-V2500, it uses a much better amplifier section and the DSP Chip is phenominal for both movies and music.

I have listened to this unit recently and was very impressed with over anything in its price range.

Just a quick note about the Yamaha RX-V2500. I just finished an install using this unit as a Preamp/Processor for my uncle. I have to say, this receiver has one of the cleanest preamps I have heard in its price class. The noise floor was absolute dead silence. For those looking for an inexpensive pre/pro to compliment their hulking 7CH amps, this is a great deal!

Go with the Yammie ...

Like mentioned above the yammie is a great value and the DSP mode is very impressive it is way better than the THX mode.

You likely won't hear a lot of favorable reviews of Sony. They seem to invest a lot more effort into their TVs than their audio products it seems and it really shows in their final product.

If you want some back and forth bickering, then ask between a Denon and Yamaha. :)

Wow. Would you say it outperforms a Rotel RSP-1068 or Nad T163 preamp?

One more vote for Yamaha. Not a SONY fan here. Too much $ for what you get. Someone has to pay for all the advertising.....
