Yamaha RX-V2500 Help!

I've got the RX-V2500 running my 7.1 home theater. Everything sounds great...except, it does not play audio into the two surround back speakers. The speakers are hooked up correctly (test tones and 7 ch stereo work), it plays 5.1 flawlessly, but it will not decode sound into the back surrounds no matter what I try, or what source material is used. I've played around for hours with the GUI, a professional installer has taken a look, and we can't figure it out.

I'm at my wits end! Can someone please let me know if there is a fix, or what menu/sub-menu I should be adjusting? For what it's worth, I'm using a Denon DVD-2910 and a Panasonic AE700U projector...everything looks and sounds great otherwise.

you might need to be using a DSP that picks up on the additional channels... turn the PROGRAM knob to where you see DTS-PLIIx or D+PLIIx in the display. look at page 48 of your manual. Most of the other DSPs (digital sound processing programs) will not put out the additional channels. :)

good luck

Thanks for the reply. There is no DPLIIX when playing a DVD. I cycle through the program button and nothing displays and the indicator does not light up. The source is defaulted to DTV...when I change the input to DVD, the DPLIIX indicator comes on, but because it's run to DTV I don't get any sound...any ideas?

rexracer19,
I also own the RX-V2500. Just switching DSP modes will not necessarily engage the back channels for 6.1/7.1 surround. However, if you push the button on the lower portion of unit's remote labeled "8 EXTD. SUR" this sould engage/disengage the back channels. This should get it. If not there may be a more serious problem.

I've also got the Yamaha RX-V2500! Is there any chance you hooked up the DVD player using the multi channel input jacks. If you did this, the digital sound field processor is automatically turned off. If you hooked the DVD player through the digital input jack, go to the GUI Surround Back menu and see if you've accidentally selected "none". If you did, then select "small x2". Hope this works!
