Yamaha RX-V2500 and XM radio

I've been wanting to buy the Yamaha v2500 for months but never had the cash available. Now I'm ready to pull the trigger but then I read a one-liner (in this forum?) that the Yamaha v2500 will have XM-ready feature included their Fall 2005 units. I know they have it in other Ymaha models but I specifically like the 3 component ins and 1 component out in the V2500 (as well as YPAO, and other features.) I'm a big XM fan and would hate to buy 5 months too early. Can anyone shed some more info on this? Will this impact MSRP, etc?

Thanks in dvance,
Hammer

I can not shed any light on future products, but what I can say is that, every year there is sure to be something new and better. Example; HD Radio and HDMI connectinos, etc...

As far as XM Radio, you can purchase a seperate XM Turner or if you like me, I have by PC connected (HTPC) and can stream via the internet XM Radio for like 8 bucks a month.

Thanks Shadowfayre,
I too have multiple XM receivers and have 1 hooked up to my current receiver. Problem is that the home audio kit or Lineout connection in Delphi boombox can't push much power so I end up cranking volume levels much higher when on that receiver connection. Need to remember to back it down so I don't blow speakers before switching to other sources. I was hoping for it to be built in the new Yamaha.

The lower end Yamahas now have XM. I would expect the newer versions of the 2500 and 1500 to follow suit. No idea when however. Also not sure if the 2500 will include DVI as well.
If you're sold on both Yamaha and XM, and like the extra bells and whistles on the 2500, waiting looks like a good idea at this point.

I bit pricey, but this componment may be something to look into... Depends on rather or not you are only looking to upgrade due to XM Radio or not.

"The world's first component XM tuner with direct digital outputs (both optical and coaxial)."

Unlike their SkyXM thing that uses a mini-streo plug to RCA, this uses optical.

Yes, I have seen the Polk XM unit. Since my plans are to upgrade the receiver anyway, I don't want to sink money into that one-dimensional polk. I've read some iffy reviews on its sound quality as well.

Careful with the Yami not being able to play a digital source on zone 2 if you have that in your game planl.. I have to say its the only thing that has bitten me with the RX-V1500...

I have all my CD's on my HT computer and had it connected via optical to my old receiver. When entertaiing outside (my zone 2) It wasnt an issue. Ive had to go back to analog from the HTcomputer to the receiver to get my music outside..

In total, a minor grief considering the benefits Ive gained in other areas.

This is not just an issue with Yamaha receivers. Most receiver brands can't play a digital source through the 2nd zone.

Yamaha price

Yamaha does pretty well with keeping prices consistent. On their new series that just rolled out a few months ago. The prices did not change for having an XM ready reciever. I don't know if XM is really in the works for the new RX-V2500 i know they are trying to get HDMI inputs in there as soon as possible, personally I don't think that's wise, but I'm just a single voice. Yamaha will have a new higher end reciever coming out soon. RX-V4500 I believe. There are few specs on it, but Yamaha has a habit of lately not disappointing. You'll always have a new unit with new features, but if XM is something you really want. I would contact your local rep. Our has not spoken of XM in the new 2500, but consistency is something that is hard to find.
