I've decided on picking up the yamaha rx-v2400 over the denon 3805 but was wondering if you need thx speakers to properly run the thx processing on the 2400. I've read that everything down to the cables and even the movie you are watching had to be thx certified. Is this true? And would I have to upgrade everything.

no, you can use the 'THX processing' with whatever equipment you have as far as i understand it.

The THX processing only changes the way the 5.1 signal is processed and sent out to your speakers according to THX specifications and reccomendations, think of it as just another DSP or fancy soundfield trying to make your room like a theatre, that's all. It will have things preset like an 80Hz crossover when you use it.

other than that, use it if you like how it sounds, or don't if you don't. :) But Yamaha has so many DSP's anyway that you can't loose.

Cheers
KJ
