The two switched outlets on the back of my RX-V2400 stay on when the unit is turned off -- why? I thought a switched outlet is an outlet that only has power to it when the unit is turned on, and no power when the unit is turned off ? The owner’s manual on pg 22 says "These outlets will supply power to any connected component whenever this unit is turned on". Am I missing something ? Is there a setting or something I need to set for this to properly work ?

John: Try one of the following and see if this works for you:

1. On the remote depress the 'standby' key or
2. On the main unit press the 'power/standby button.'

Either of these actions should turn-off any accessory connected via the AC Switched Outlet (as well as all power to the receiver).

I'll carry this a step further with another related observation (I also own an RX-V2400):

I can turn the unit on/off by using the 'power/standby button' on the receiver itself; never a problem here. But when using the Remote Control I get the following responses (or non-responses):

1. If the unit is off, the 'System Power' button will fire it up but this same button will not shut the receiver down; it is non-responsive once the unit is operating.

2.. In order to turn if off, I must press the 'Standby' button.

I'm not sure why these functions are configured as they are but in any case it's no real problem.

Are you also getting these same responses from your remote?

George: Thank you for your reply. Yes, I'm getting the same responses from my remote as you are. And my switched outlet is working properly.

The reason I though it was not working is I needed a trigger wire to go to my external amp, and was told to use an AC/DC adapter, but what I found is that the AC/DC adapter is holding the 12vdc current when the RX-V2400 is turned off so it was not triggering my external amp on and off. I’m now using the ‘control out’ on the back of the RX-V2400 and it’s triggering my amp perfectly.

Is there some rationale behind why the remote has two different buttons to turn it off and on?

You have NO idea how long it took me to make my wife understand there is on button to turn it on and another to turn it off. Sounds simple enough, huh? OOOOOOH NO!
