Yamaha RX V2400 component video problem

Hey guys, I'm having a problem that I was hoping someone here could help me resolve. I'm sure it's something really simple and stupid on my part...

I'm trying to connect two devices through the RXV2400, both of which are component video (computer and a DVR from comcast). As far as video connections on the receiver, there are only these two inputs and one output, all of which are component video. The only video I'm getting on my HDTV is the on screen display from the receiver. If I connect the Y cable from the three component video cables I'm able to see video from either source so I know that the cable box / computer are working correctly.

Any idea what the problem is? I've tried turning off the OSD but this didn't fix it, I've also selected DTS for the input instead of Auto which defaulted to analog.

Any help would be great, thanks

Receiver setup

Make sure you have use the Receiver's menu to assign the DVD and satelite video inputs to use the appropriate component video input. They might default to the composite or s-video connection.

The only thing I saw in the IO properties was the default settings of DVD/DVD and DVR/DVR for the component video inputs. I tried changing it to Aux, but that didn't make a difference.

Component assigment

Aaron,
For example, if your DVD player is connected to Component Video # 2 and on the receiver it is assigned to component input #1, composite video, or s-video, than you wont get the correct video signal to the TV.

I'm not sure what happened because I didn't do anything... but when I got home from work and tried again, it was working... go figure!

Thanks for the suggestions in any case.
