Dear all, i have a 7.1 setup with 8ohm speakers I’ve had for 2 years now. My problem appears to be with the left section of the amp producing a static scratchy sound from all the left speakers in the surround, front, rear and rear back. All speakers on the right side are fine.

I can still hear music pretty well from them but it’s irritatingly there.

Just to troubleshoot a little bit, I’ve tried juggling speakers, playing music from different sources and with different cabling, hdmi and optical with no luck.

I’m beginning to think there’s something wrong internally, leaky cap maybe?

Not too sure, I might have a few months warranty left, don’t remember if it was 1 or 3 years. But if it is out of warranty not really sure what I should do.

If anyone can step me in the right direction I am much appreciated.

Thanks
Happy new year

You are correct, your receiver needs service or replacement. My guess is a power supply problem, with reduced voltage to the affected channels, causing clipping at low volume.

I believe the standard warranty from Yamaha is 2 years.
