Yamaha RX-V1800/3800 firmware update

This firmware fixes the BTB/WTW problem with these receivers. They now pass the full bandwidth thru HDMI.
Personally, I feel the problem was blown a bit out of proportion, but for anyone interested....
Type in the model number to find the download section. It's a german site, but the firmware will work regardless. I did it this morning with no ill effects. Aside from the fact it sets everything back to factory settings.
If you have the manager software, it's a good idea to back up your settings on a computer.

I'm assuming this will also fix the dts bomb too? How much difference in picture quality have you noticed since doing this? I would consider doing the upgrade, but it's a real PITA to reset all my settings.

My understanding is that it has the previous fix included in it.
Like I said; I think the problem was overblown. No difference in PQ that i could tell, but my display is only a 1080i RP.
I'm about to tear out my system to have carpeting installed, so this was a good time for me to screw everything up.

Thanks Nomo for the info. Newbie as member on this excellent forum but for a long time looking in, I would like to take this opportunity to say hello to all members here. I have one question for you if you don't mind in regards of the new firmware upgrade from the german site: 1) have you noticed any picture improvement after the upgrade? 2) can the upgrade be performed via usb just like DTS bug done about 1 year ago? I own the RX-V3800 feeding my Snell E5's through an Onkyo Integra M-504 (poor man's Macs) amp and my center XA-55 (snell) through a Sherbourn mono block.

No picture improvement that I can see. Most likely I probably wasted my time doing it given my video capablities.
I have the 1800 without USB, but if the DTS bomb patch worked last time I see no reason why it wouldn't this time.
