Hi Guys,
I'm a first time poster so sorry if someone has asked this before. I've done a search and came up empty so I'll ask away.

I recently bought a RX-V1500 amp and am having a hell of a time getting zone 2 setup. Basically setup is amp connected to main theatre room (5.1 I know), speaker b's setup to outside entertainment area, and a pair of speaker setup in my wife's clinic so she can have some nice music when with clients (she's a remedial therapist).

So I've hooked up the speakers, gone into setup on the amp and turned on zone 2 and set it to variable. Thing is I can't get a peep from the clinic speakers?!

Looking at the book it tells me to repeat steps 1 - 3 on page 66. Now I can get the display on the remote to say "Learn" but that's it. I haven't been able to work out to go any further. I guess I'm trying to turn Zone 2 on so I can use the remote as described on page 78 but that's it. So frustrating. Who the hell writes these things? No matter what I do I can't get it to display any code, let alone enter one.

If anyone knows how the set this thing up, I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Pete from Oz.

Try this:

1. Set the AMP/SOURCE/TV switch to Source.
2. Press the DVD input button.
3. Press and hold the Learn button gently with a paper clip for 3 seconds. You will see L:DVD and DVD will flash alternatively on the remote LCD window.
4. Press the right arrow button until you see L:AMP.
5. Press Enter and `2000` will appear in the remote LCD window.
6. Enter in `2001`.
7. Press Enter to set the number. `OK` will appear in the remote LCD window if the setting was successful.
8. Press the Learn button to complete the Zone setup.

Thanks

Avrat,
Many tks. Your simple instructions had me going in 5mins (after I found a wiring problem).

Yamaha should employ you instead of who ever wrote that damn booklet.

Cheers,

Pete

Quick question about the Yamaha RX-V1500...

After I turn the power on, the unit powers off after 3-4 seconds. Is this problem familair to anyone?

Not good . . .

Sounds like you are shorting the amplifier.
Disconnect all the connections from the back and power up the receiver.
If it still shuts down, send to Yamaha for repair.
If not, repair the short in speaker wiring or replace the deffective cable.

Unit not powering on

We had a big electrical storm last night and my Yamaha RX-V1500 is not powering up anymore (exactly the same problem JayKay01 had).
"After I turn the power on, the unit powers off after 3-4 seconds. Is this problem familair to anyone?"
Reading the manual it suggested powering down for 30 secs and plugging back in - I've tried this and the unit is still not working.
There's no reason why the unit should be shorting, as none of the cables have moved - does anyone have any ideas about how to fix, or whether I should go straight to the dealer / service centre?
