Yamaha RX-V1500 Auto Setup

When I try to run auto setup it doesn't do anything
I should have
1 AUTO:MENU
WIRING.......CHECK
DISTANCE...CHECK
etc
but I get
WIRING.......---
DISTANCE....---
etc
the mike is plugged in so I wonder what I am doing incorrectly?

You have me confused, so sorry for the stupid question(s)
My 1500 is not hooked up so I'll go by memory.

Are you looking at the OSD on your TV?

yes the OSD on my tv - I thought if I hit the > button it would commence the setup but it doesn't, I vaguely remember this happening when I first bought it about 4 years ago but I don't remember what I did to get it to run.

Hit the set menu button.
arrow to auto set-up.
Hit enter.

This should bring you into the YPAO screen.
This should be where you see
Wiring
Distance
etc.

You'll need to pick and choose which setting for YPAO to check.

From there, I believe you arrow down to ?start? and arrow right.

Tried that and nothing. Beats me.

I just went to the yamaha site and asked them, maybe they will have an idea. Everything else works so I am not gonna run out and buy a new receiver or anything. (I have subwoofer to save up for)
