Ok, I have done the pre-requisite forum searching before posting ;) I found this old post:

forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26151&highlight=rx-v1400+zone *edit - wont let me post a link in my first post.. I removed the http

and my issue is similar... Here is my situation.

As mentioned, amp is Yamaha RX-V1400

Front speakers A left and right connected

Surround speakers A left and right connected

Surround back speakers A left and right connected

Center connected

Presence/Zone 2 speakers left and right connected

So here is the issue.. My zone 2 speakers are outdoor speakers on the covered porch.. What I am shooting for is to have the outdoor speakers assigned to zone 2 not presence so I have been through the manual setup and set presence to none.. Then used the remote to turn on zone 2, selected the correct input for my source and ...... nada.. Now from the post I mentioned above it seems that my digital source might be the problem, however..

If I assign the outside speakers as presence speakers, then on any program with enhanced capabilities the audio is indeed pushed to the outside speakers though the volume is directly proportional to the main amp volume..

So am I basically screwed for a true zone 2 configuration using the zone 2amp and seperate volume capability unless I go analog only for the source?? This can't be can it??? Can someone out there please help a newb here???

Thanks..

Yup - the analog and digital are totally separate signal paths. Just add the analog connections between the source and receiver and you should be in business. No big deal, just anther set of cables.
