Yamaha RX-V1400 remote control

Does anybody know if Yamaha remotes from this model forward will remotely control zone 2? I set up a Niles IR remote in my game room and thought my old Yammy remote I kept from a long since departed receiver would work, but you need the zone 2 option on the remote. The RAV238 remote that came with the 1400 works fine in zone 2 so now I need another one for the game room.

Most companies are fairly consistent with their remote codes from year to year so a remote for a newer model receiver should be able to control the basic functions of an older model receiver. However, the opposite case cannot be true - a remote for an older receiver that didn't have Zone 2 capability certainly will not have the code for zone2 that was introduced with a later model.

Your best bet would be to use a universal remote with learning capabilities and just learn the zone 2 codes from the remote that does have those codes.
