Hi,
I just purchased RX-V681 and i am searching for the perfect match speakers
I am confused between the Polk TSX-550 and the yamahas NS-555
and NS-F500

So, please help me to take the decision and if there is any recommendation about the speakers
also, i noticed that the receiver supports the bi-amp speakers
What are the differences between those and the normal ones.
Also, the Front presence speakers what are the differeneces between it and the normal ones.

Thanks

Well, the perfect match would be what you like the best, have you listened to the speakers? Are you looking for just a left/right or a full 7.1 set or ? What's your budget? Why only considering Polk and Yamaha now?

I wouldn't bother with passive bi-amping with the receiver and speakers but try some articles/threads on it; it's mostly about marketing with no or very very little advantage, but helps sell speaker wire (and use this site before you buy any speaker wire).

Front presence speakers are surround speakers, not main L/R channels.

Good luck!

Thank you for your reply

I am looking for a surround 7.1 or 7.2 speaker system but i want to install speakers that utilize the full capacity of the receiver.

So, i do not want to install speakers that gives less sound that the receiver can give. I begin to read the user manual of the receiver and i found those two words that i want to understand ( bi-amp and presence speaker )

I do not just looking for only those two brands, but those the speakers that i heard :)

If you have any suggetions about the speakers types and power let me know please.

Thanks again :)

Are you in the USA? What is your maximum budget to spend here? We like spending other people's money :)

Passive Bi-Amping--don't even worry about it, it's a waste of time, it just complicates your setup, it doesn't provide any real-world benefits, and it's just asking for a mistake on the wiring especially for a newb.

Front Presence Speakers--again pretty much a gimmick and I wouldn't worry about it in the slightest! What it does is use some fancy DSP algorithms to try to add "presence" information to the front. In other words--it alters the original signal to "try" to add to it--don't even waste your time on this either.

Then find speakers with the highest sensitivity ratings to take advantage of the power your avr has. The Polk TSx550 specs (altho it doesn't provide the actual basis of the spec so it is somewhat vague) is 91dB for sensitivity which is pretty good. Use an spl calculator to see at what distance and with the sensitivity of the speakers you need as to approximately how much power will be needed from your amp section, try this one http://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html

As was asked before, your budget and location would help a lot....
