All,

I am planning to get the RX-A720 of the Aventage series of Yamaha as an AVR. Just wanted to quickly check if someone has used this already? The reason I choose Yamaha as compared to others is its reliability and the Zone 2 independence. However, I ready to reconsider provided some cheaper options are provided. Appreciate your help.

That receiver is a good choice, but if those are your only qualifications you could go further down the yamaha line and still get them. Also, be aware that zone 2 only works with analog inputs, if you want a digital input on the second zone you'll need to spend far more money.

Wow I had no idea the other 2 channels are analog :(. Any ideas around what model of Yamaha would offer me digital for the Zone 2. Also, I have not bought the speakers yet, but I am planning to get the HDT tower & Center for now (money crunch).

Look forward to your suggestions.

Even my SR6004 can only do analog.

Well, I have Zone 3, so I have the ability to use digital but not without external amplifier. :D

Looks like you'd have to jump up to the A2020 for digital on zone 2.

I find this unbelievably annoying as well.
