...and Yamaha Support says that's the way it is designed. I just bought the RX-A600 to replace my old Yamaha 5.1 in order to get the 7.2, Ethernet and especially the ARC to match our Samsung Smart TV. HDMI-1 is the only input in use (Comcast cable box). The TV has Netflix, Amazon, etc, built-in. The audio switches over automatically when switching from Cable to TV and back, just as it is supposed to with ARC. The problem is the unit powers up for a second in HDMI 1, right where I left it, then self-switches the input to AV2, the default setting for "TV Audio". The TV then senses that HDMI-1 is gone and switches output to its own speakers. Using the Yamaha remote, you must then select HDMI-1 as input so the TV can switch back to the receiver's surround sound. Yamaha says the unit is not designed to retain the HDMI-1 setting and there's no way to change that. My old one stayed where set. Having to use a second remote every time makes the wife crazy. Is there a 3rd-party remote that can be programmed to turn on the receiver AND switch it to HDMI-1? Do I just leave the receiver on all the time?
