Hey guys,
I am not only new to this forum but also to the world of Home Cinema. That is why I want to take advantage of your expertise this one time.
So I recently bought a second hand Yamaha RX A3010, which I paired with a Teufel Concept S. I connected said speakers to the receiver by cable (no plugs) and the receiver to said tv via ARC-HDMI.
I have activated HDMI Control on the receiver Setup page and ARC (SimpleLink) is automatically activated on my TV as long as a cable is connected on the port (or at least that is what the manual says).
However, although I get picture and tone (when I test the speakers through the setup menu), there is no playback sound coming through. Do you have any idea what the problem could be?
Thanks in advance!
The remote and Set up of LG TVs are not very intuitive.
However your receiver is old, and has ARC, your TV has the newer eARC. Now this is in theory backward compatible, but there can be issues.
LG TVs do require pairing with the receiver. This must be done so that the TV can send to the receiver only what formats it can handle.
You need to go into the set up menu of the TV and have it find your receiver and pair it.
I suspect this is your issue, but obviously from afar I can not be certain. The older ARC versions like your receiver will have had lots of issues, so much so that it was frequently recommended to avoid using it. eARC is a huge improvement. In theory your receiver should be able to pair with your receiver but I would not bet on it.
One other point, the ARC in your receiver will only receive lossy audio formats but eARC receives loss less formats and other add on features. To get the best out of your system would require a receiver with eARC.
