Yamaha RX-667 - No Sound

Hi peeps, I picked up an RX-667 recently after much research and shopping around, and think I may have received a bunk unit. I simply cannot get any sound out of the speakers.

I'm running with the Harman/Kardon HKTS-BQ20 5.1 speaker set. Regardless of where I connect the two rear speakers, as "surround" or "surround/back", I get no sound out of any speakers when running YPAO or by forcing the Test Tone in the manual speaker setup.

There are a couple strange ways that I can get this unit to produce sound, though. If I use the iPod Dock (YDS-12) or Tuner, I can get sound out of the front two speakers or the Zone 2 speakers (set up in the bedroom) while ONLY in Straight 2-Channel Stereo Mode. If I change the audio settings at all (7-Channel Stereo, Hall in Munich, etc.) I lose sound. It's so strange, even if I try adjusting the treble or bass, I lose sound. Sadly, the sub does not produce bass no matter what I do (although I'm not even sure if it is supposed to work when I'm just using the iPod Dock or Tuner).

I've installed the latest firmware (2.05) and tried getting YPAO or Manual Test sounds to work in the most basic conditions with no luck. For example, with only the front two speakers connected, and the TV connected through HDMI.

Am I doing something wrong here? At least, I've sure learned a lot more about this receiver through all the troubleshooting I've tried so far! The worst part of it though is that I bought this receiver in the US when I was visiting relatives, and didn't have a chance to hook it up and try it out until I brought it home with me to Japan. If I have to exchange, warranty, or service this unit the shipping charges are gonna kill me =(.

Well, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, a follow-up to this, after talking with Yamaha support it looks like I do indeed have a bad unit. Bummer, gonna have to ship this thing Stateside to get a replacement, which will cost like 30 thousand yen, literally! =(
