Yamaha RX-1070BL or RX-1080

Went to BBuy looking for the 1080 tonight. The salesman explained they have one 1070 in the box and would sell it for $650. Reviewing the specs of both, it seems the main differences are the new AI feature and Sabre 9007A DAC (1080) and 9006A (1070). But, is there a difference in sound quality or are they exactly the same?

Probably almost identical in sound. Feature-wise the AI is not a critical feature. The more positive feature is the redesigned remote. Although the iPhone and android remote apps are so good you may just use your phone as a remote.

$650 is 50% off! That's way below dealer cost! Get it if you can. Or ask the Store Manager if he would do a price match since another Best Buy Store is offering the RX-A1070 for $650.

Definitely a good purchase IMO at 50% off MSRP new price.

Yamaha is supposed to be #1 in reliability. It's open-box, like-new condition, and you get the full 3-YR warranty.

Here's another BBuy special if interested B&W 686S2 new $263 and 685 S2 $299 new. Went to quite a few stores before I landed them. But, it was a fun day.

Yeah, if you are patient and look, there are deals for sure on brand new and open box items. There is no reason to buy refurbished IMO.
