Yamaha RV-Z9 Problem

I've owned my Z9 for 3 months now. Everything said about it is true. This is definately the king of the hill of Receivers. My problem is that after 3 months is became difficult to turn on. After pushing the power button it would go on than off several times (10-15 times) before it would stay on. It would even turn off without warning. I checked the manual and checked the plug for proper insertion and speaker wires. All Normal. Also, I do not have this in an enclosed cabinet as I took the warnings about running hot, so it sits on a shelf with lots of air circulation.
I actually purchased an Extended Warranty Service plan from Circuit City so it is being fixed as we speak. I writing to find out if anyone else has had similar problems.

My RXZ9 has not turned off yet, however the receiver gets extremely hot. I believe it to be a problem myself. With you receiver being on the top shelve, does it get hot as well? I mean too hot to touch?

Check your speakers by attaching them to another amp, if they have a short, they would shut that amp too.

Mine gets Hot and thats why I did'nt put it in a cabinet. Also, I'm using my backup amp (Yamaha RX-V620) and the amp is working fine. My own gut feeling is the "over-temp" sensor is not sensing correctly.

Got my Z9 back from the shop yesterday. Works fine now now. Not sure what they did to fix it.
