Yamaha Receiver not recognizing sub! Help please!

Okay so I recently got two new front speakers for my Yamaha HTR-6240 receiver.
I've had a 9" Polk audio subwoofer in use quite some time now.
After moving into my dorm however, my subwoofer no longer has any output from my Yamaha receiver.

I have used the connections identical to what they were before, but they are not working now.

For those unfamiliar with the receiver, I have a connection of a single channel that goes to the sub, and that goes to a splitter which then goes to a R and L on the sub.

I tried using YPAO with the microphone to setup in my new area, and here's the most puzzling part.

Whenever it's calibrating, the subwoofer is recognized and audible, it's not until after when I set it that going back to the input screen makes it disappear!

I've tried using auto and manual setup, but nothing works...

Care to enlighten me anyone as to what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!

Are you just using the two front speakers and the sub? My guess is that the receiver is setting the speakers to "large," which will result in you not hearing the sub on most (maybe all) material. Double check that your speakers are set to "small" (or set them that way), and I bet that the sub will start playing.

What new speakers did you get? Can they play as low as your sub?

Thanks for the reply!
I did notice that the speakers are set to large, whether it be manual or auto (YPAO).

I have Polk monitor 60 series II fronts, so this might be the culprit.

But just as a follow up, is there anyway (besides manual setting) that would make YPAO not set them as larges? Would it always know the difference between large and small?

But thanks, I'll manually set them to small and tell you how it goes!

Yeah check to make sure your sub is set to on in the manual settings in the Yamaha. Im sure you have but just double checking. I agree with Adam, set the speakers to small, all of them whether 2 or 5 speakers.

Yeah I set them manually to small, and there is a much improved response and the [SW] symbol shows up on the screen!

Still a bit weak, but I'll do some more tweaking... I guess I'll just turn up the volume on the subwoofer.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Just an FYI, the Polk Monitor 60's have a relatively weak bass for their size.
