I am hoping someone knows the answer to my question. I avoid listening to my iPod because of this issue.
I've had this receiver for 7 years it's a great receiver. It's never given me problems. It now has this issue where it only plays 2 channel stereo when the iPod is selected. It never did this before. I think I may have leaned on the remote or did something else to mess up the settings.
When DVD or DVR is selected, it's a beautiful 7 speaker surround sound. It's amazing.
Why can't I hear all 7 speakers any longer when the iPod is playing.
It's always been connected the same way so what happened :/

Thank you for reading!

If you’re connecting the iPod to the receiver via the former’s headphone jack, then you can’t get surround sound unless you have the receiver in “7-channe stereo” mode or Dolby Pro Logic, or something similar.

Hello, thanks for answering.
I'm using the same connection cable I've always used, it's a pin looking cable, from the iPod dock to the back of the receiver
It always worked fine. One day I turned it on and the receiver says 2 channel stereo :(
On my TV/DVD it reads 7 channel.
I've tried a ton of buttons on the front of the receiver to fix the problem
The one difference I do see is:
When selecting A speakers it's ok
B is silent and does not work.
That's new. That may be the issue.
When selecting both A and B speakers, they should all work when playing the iPod dock, they do for movies.

Frustrating:/

Sounds like you are in direct/straight mode for the ipod input, since the ipod is only 2ch, you need to select a sound mode that will matrix it into 5/7 channel. Likely that's how you're getting 7ch from a dvd or tv, too.

Hey that sounds logical.
Ok so the question is, how do I get it off of straight, and back to 7 channel like it once was.
I should post a picture of my remote. It looks like the Starship Enterprise control panel lol. Too many buttons.

I must be able to change that on the receiver?

Have you tried the manual for your avr? Seems to tell you which button to use on page 6....

You could also just click on the link I provided....lots easier to look at a manual with a search function....
