Been wanting to get a remote to oper my new yamaha htr-3066 receiver, so i dont have to use two or more to oper my system. Looking for recom on which one's may work with yamaha . My budget is low right now so the cheapest would be best.. ALL I need for it to do is turn receiver/tv on, and be able to oper recever vol,, and possably add my panasonic DVD ...Very basic operation.. I figure i ask before i buy as i heard possable issues ??? with yamaha..

The cheapest Harmony remote you can use is Harmony 350 which retails for $49.99. It's keys are not back lit and will operate all your components but you have to select the component first. The next step up is the Harmony 650 which retails for $79.99. It's keys are back lit (which I highly recommend) and you program it to do macros... that is by pressing the watch tv button as an example, it will turn your AVR on and put it to the proper input, turn your TV on and select its proper out to the AVR, turn on your cable box or what have you.

Highly recommend the 650...the initial setup is a bit time-consuming but it performs very well and the harmony database has every piece of av gear one can imagine!

Ended up with the 350,. Pretty much does what i need.. Just hate vol and channel buttons. Should be bigger, so as to be able to feel the buttons better in the dark or low light..

Thats why I recommended the 650 with backlit buttons. Once you get backlit buttons, you'll never go back.
