Yamaha has a new receiver with 11.1 surround sound. I believe two front and two rear channels are presence channels. The presence channels carry the room venue acoustics information (i.e. echoes, time delay, etc.). Since they have committed 4 amplifier channels to this DSP processing technique, I assume that under the right room acoustics this must sound pretty good. I have a Yamaha 7.1 system using two of the channels as presence channels. I do not have the ideal room acoustics setup but I like at least a couple of DSP modes. Has anyone else tried presence channels/DSP modes and do you like them?
