I have had my eye on these for a while now I live in Canada and no of the retailer carry them so I havent had a chance to audition them, they look great and the specs look alright i have a yamaha rx 750 mainly used for movie purposes. I understand yamaha is known for recivers and not speakers but from the reviews i have read they sound no to bad for the price. I am currently running enerygy surrounds and sub and center channel with cheap towers. I was thinking of replacing the center and the front towers with something different my other choice was athena f1 and c1. ANy idea what would match better? or if these yammys are any good

Hi Hurley,
Never heard the yamaha speaks but have heard and seen their recievers...good looking recievers. Have you ever heard of Axiom? I think they are made in Canada and very reasonably priced and the guys at their forum just think they are great. Myself, I have paradigm studio 40's and they are on the $$$ side. GoodLuck :)

I wouldn't get the NS 777. They're not thaaaat good.

Go for the NS 515-F (front speakers) and NS 515-M (surround) and NS 515-C (centre). I have them along with the RX-V2500 (I had the RX-V2400 which I recently swapped for the newer one). Those speakers are EXCELLENT and very reasonably priced. Oh, I also have the YST SW-800 subwoofer from yamaha.

rgds,

:)

hurley,
what about paradigm? they are cheap here in canada, and a real bargain speaker. I have heard them quite a few times with a yammie and love them. What is your budget and exactly what are you looking for 5.1? 7.1? Let me know and i can recommend which paradigm speakers to look at.

I researched the crap out of those 777s and they are freaking awesome. They aren't top of the line, but for $200/speaker (cheapest I found them), I haven't found a better floorstanding speaker. I'd really like to get a set of six of them along with a kickin' sub...

Nick,
Have you actually heard the 777s?
I'm interested in them myself but have been unable to find a place to audition them.
