Yamaha NS 690 II or JBL L80 T3?

I want a little advice.

I have the chance locally of buying from one of two pairs of speakers, and I'm not sure which way I should go. Both pairs are fairly venerable, both in age and reputation. The Yamaha NS 690's were considered almost as good as their bigger brothers, the 1,000's, and though a little base shy by reputation were considered good enough to be used as studio monitors. The JBL L80 T3's also had a fine reputation.

Question is, at a price of around $150 for either pair, which way should I go? I think it's a good deal either way money-wise.

Thanks in advance

Personally, I'd go with the JBL...

I only say that because I own some older JBL's and still like their sound. Be aware though that the foam surrounds on the woofers will probably need to be re-done at some point in the not too distant future if they haven't been re-done already. This is a inexpensive procedure whether you do it or have a pro do it....

Good luck
