Hi,

I am currently in the process of getting an Energy RC-70 5.1 Home Theatre System and am picking my receiver. I have it narrowed down to the Yamaha HTR 6290 or the Denon AVR-989.

From what I can gather the two systems are fairly similar but I can't find reviews on the Yamaha system. I can get either for $1000CDN which is a good price for either one.

I was wondering if anyone has had any major issues with either and which would work best on the Energy speakers. Keeping in mind my main use is for Movies.

They are comparable. They're both good quality productsand relatively new so not many reviews available. Heck, the Yammie isn't even up on the U.S. site.

I switched from a Denon 3805 to the 6190(rx-v1800 without the zone 2 remote) and they are on par. I believe the Yamaha has more power and either should drive the 70's with ease!
