Hi all,
I've just finished installing my new HTR6130, and it was working fine. During the final installation I suspect some spire got a short circuit, since the amplifier stopped working. I guessed it was in protection mode, so I unplugged it for 30 secs, plugged again, but now I can hear sound only from the front speakers. I've checked the configuration, and the central and surround speakers are enabled, (and work if I attach them to the front out connectors) but the surround and the central are not emitting any sound. The subwoofer is working. Moreover, on the display, I can see only two lights, indicating that the FL and FR speakers are on, while the other leds are off.
I've tried to reset the AV to exclude it was my configuration, but I don't know what I can do now to make the speakers working again.
Any suggestion?

Thanks,
Luca

I have a couple of quick ideas to check. When you unplugged it, it may have reset all the internal memory. You may have to go back and run the auto setup program or reset the surround channels on in the setup menu.

Are you sure that you haven't inadvertently selected the stereo sound mode?

Also, the indicator lights, are they the lights that display the input or the output channels?

The leds indicates the output channels, and from what I understand from the user's manual, they enlight when the selected output channel is active. So, having the FL and FR leds means that the output is going thru the FL and FR speakers only. I should have also the CENTER and SL and SR leds active. I've checked the audio program, and it gives me "5 ch", that should mean I'm using all the channels.
But I'm not sure, since the manual does not explain all the menus and I don't know how could I have selected (and now disable) the stereo mode.

I am downloading a copy of your manual right now. I'll go through it and see if I can be of more help.

The manual, on page 20, indicates that the channel indicator lights (below the volume display, bottom right corner) are input indicators. It looks like the receiver is only getting a stereo input signal.

Hold on, I'm still reading.

For the input connections, are you using HDMI? If you are using HDMI, make sure the audio select setting is set to auto. If you are using red/white rca connections, we found your problem.:D

Also, follow the procedure on the right side of page 32, displaying the signal information. This will confirm a multichannel input signal.

Thanks for youy help.
Now, I do use red/black cables to connect speakers, and now, since I've unmounted the av, I'm using only the tuner function. However, the tuner was working with 5 speakers before, and now only with two. What do you think the problem is?

Press AMP on your remote, then press SURROUND DECODE until it displays any of the PLII sound fields. That should give you surround from the tuner.

On page 22 of the internet manual there is a procedure for basic setup and speakers selection that I don't have on my manual. But I don't have button 4 (AMP) on my remote, so I don't know how to activate such procedure. If this could help....

I don't have any suggestions that would create a button where there isn't one there already.

I don't know what to say.

The setup procedure to enable the speakers is different from that described on the online manual, however I've got all the speakers enabled. I've also tried to run the autosetup, plugging the microphone and letting the system to setup, but no sound were emitted by the system.
Is there a way or a test I can do to understand if it is an hardware problem or a software one?
