Hey. I have had the Yamaha HTR 6140 for a couple years now. I went away to school for about a year and half and had it in storage. I have recently moved into an apartment where I was able to get my things out of storage, and set up my sound system.

I have the yamaha htr 6140 that future shop sold as a package with a 5.1 speaker/sub system. the brand is energy. I had no problem with this system before.

But I hooked it all up, minus the two surround speakers. I just hooked up the center speaker, sub, and right and left front speakers. This is how I had it set up before.

I have a PS3 and 360 hooked up to it via hdmi. Ps3 has hdmi to dvd, and 360 hdmi to the dtv/cable hook up. then its hdmi out from the reciever to hdmi in on my television. I get great picture, and the sub and center speaker work awsome. I don't get any sound from the two left and right front speakers though.

I played with the settings, looked at the manual. And I did a manual set up of the scene buttons so that scene one has input as dvd, and audio set at game. This shows that all 5.1 should be used, though I no it won't cause I don't have the souround speakers hooked up. Scene two is the same, accept input is dtv/cable. I also have scene 3 as dvd movie viewing and it is input: dvd so my ps3 can be used for dvds, and audio is set as movie dramatic. and it shows that the two front speakers should be working.

But no matter what setting I use, I can't get the two front right and left speakers to put out sound. Only the center and sub works.

I can't see what I have done any different from when I had it hooked up before. Everything worked then. But doesn't now. Also scene 4 is for radio, and the same thing is with that, two front left and right speakers don't work.

I have double checked the connections, and everything is hooked up correctly. I am wondering maybe if my system is broken or something. Or have I just missed something very simple.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks.
If the left and right speakers are recognized in the set up menu and it does not play the receiver test tones, then that receiver is toast.
