Help..... I'm looking at getting this receiver. It seems to have alot of features for the current street price (~$350).

I need help selecting speakers. Some info:

15x13 room
mostly TV and Movies (some radio)
would like speakers that I can mount on wall brackets
While the receiver is 7.1, this will be setup as 6.1
I value clarity over mind-bleeding sound.
Would like to spend between $300 and $600, but could be convinced to spend a little more.

Thank you,

Are you interested in wall/bracket mounting all around, or just your rear/surround?

Do you have a subwoofer? If not, that will kill your budget.

I intended to mount the R/L front and the R/C/L rear on the walls to safe floor space and keep them safe from kids and dog :) The center would probably be on a shelf or wall mounted just below the plasma.

I need a subwoofer too......

I may end up getting a home theater package and see how it is. Then perhaps upgrade later. But honestly, I'm not sure if I want that headache.

I did listen to some JBL, Yamaha, etc. over at BestBuy. They sounded decent.

As mentioned above, the room is not real big and I'm leaning towards a clean sound with medium base, not something that will collaspe walls :D

I did see the Orb1/2 package and was intrigued though.....

Also, what do you think of the receiver choice?

Thank you,

Good receiver. You may also consider the Pioneer VSX-1015TX for a little more which is basically a rebadged Pioneer Elite VSX-52TX (just found out today!). If you are looking to mount everything on your walls, then you want something with excellent mid's and highs. Leave the bass to the subwoofer, and stick it in the corner. Since you don't have a huge room, you probably don't want the subwoofer taking up a lot of space. You'll find this system to sound much better than the JBL's and Yamaha's at your local BB, and probably at a better price. Just one option out of hundreds...
