looking to put a new Yamaha dvd player up against my RX V2500 I just got...any suggestions which one may offer the best match? I don't really want to spend top-dollar on one as I think in the future I may get into a recorder eventually. It just seems that dvd's are changing rapidly now ( internal hard drives) and I don't want to spend too too much on one I may want to replace soon after purchase. I'm thinking the DVDC940 (for more than one disk) DVDS 1500, or DVDS 550B or 550S. Any thoughts???...O.K....I now see I am in the wrong catagory here!!! IDIOT!!!

Why limit to Yamaha? There are plenty other worthy ones. (unless the color has to match!)

I've been "Yamahad" since I bought my 1st rx 450 and CDC 715 14 years ago...and no problems...(colour wasn't a thought - until now lol) I would appreciate a black dvd player, I guess...(the wife'll be all over me because it won't "match" the rest of my gear! lol... :p

Go with the dvd-s1500. This should give you top notch audio/video for years to come.

As for a DVD recorder I would advise that you invest in one for your computer instead as it will offer much more flexibility matched with newer and updated software as it comes out.

The Yamaha DVD-S540 is a truly fantastic deal with excellent color, so is their DVD-S2300 Mk-II SACD player if you are willing to spend a little more.
