Hi, does anyone know what the remote protocol is for IP control of the cxa5100? I sent an email to Yamaha, and was unable to get a response. We would like to control my CXA5100 via IP with my home automation software, but we do not know the protocol or the commands that it uses.

Thanks,
Ron

I am not clear about your question. If you meant the IP address, you should be able to see it from your PC.

With most new Audio equipment you can control it over the LAN. The problem is we do not know what the protocol is for it nor do we know the commands. When I had Denon equipment it was listed in the manual for people who wanted to control it via serial ot LAN. I am assuming a HT integrator will know the info.

I can punch in the IP address and control it via the web, but we are trying to control it from Home Automation software. With the software I can control it like Crestron, or Control 4 would.

Okay thanks, now I know what you are talking about, I think... I don't use any home automation software and have no need for it. Have you tried calling your home automation software customer support?

Is that a part of Yamaha?

They are tcp/ip I'll see if I can find the data sheet as mine are already built into a driver for my remote.

And yamaha should be able to provide it to you. If not the app developers sites will have some of them.

Which software?

That would be great! I am using Charmed Quark Software(CQC). I am trying to setup my templates to where when I select a certain audio mode (ie. Turn on left and right for stereo, or turn on 5 for 5 channel.) it will turn on or off my amps. I have the amp part working with Insteon outdoor outlets...just need the Yamaha part for it to be completed.

Thanks, I will download them when I get home. The YNCA is one we have tried, but only a couple of the codes would work with our 5100. Have you tried them with the 5100 with success? If so maybe someone at CQC wrote something incorrectly on this driver. I will def forward it to the one who writes the drivers, and see if there is something different. I appreciate the info and will post up results.
