Yamaha CR-640 cuts out

I have an old Yamaha CR-640 that still sounds very good, but it cuts in and out after it warms up. Once it starts happening it will drop out for 2 to 5 minutes, then come back in for about the same amount of time. It is not an exact science that you can set your watch by, though. When it drops out, I can bring it back instantly by powering the unit off and back on, but it then drops right back out after a short amount of time. I would suspect a thermal switch somewhere, but the fact that I can be reset instantly in this way kind of sheds doubt on that to me. When it drops in and out I hear a relay change states. It sounds like the same relay you hear when you first power the unit on.

Has anyone had this issue? If so, what was the fix? If not, does anyone have any ideas what might be going on here?

Thanks
